History of Angel StoriesAngel stories are an ancient tradition.Angels and angel stories pre-date the oldest Hebrew texts of the bible. The Sumerians, who pre-date even the Egyptian society, are the oldest recorded ancient civilization who used winged humans in their carvings and statues. The Sumerians tell the oldest known angel stories of “messengers of the gods” who would intervene between the “gods” and men. Angel stories since permeate throughout ancient and most primitive cultures, as winged beings seem to be found within most all of their artwork and lore.In the earliest books of the bible, we read many angel stories concerning their intervention between God and man. These angel stories always seem to depict angels as human in appearance. In bible stories about angels, they have appeared as messengers, protectors, destroyers, guides and healers. Mythology also had its share of winged messengers, and these angel stories most likely influenced many famous artists over the centuries to paint and sculpt angels with wings. Perhaps the wings are an artist's way of conveying the story of an angel’s “higher place,” that being spirit.Interestingly enough, St. Augustine described angels simply as spirits. He believed that an angel’s “office” is messenger, and not their nature. Thus to St. Augustine, anyone bearing a message can be an angel. This seems to make sense, as the Greek and Hebrew words translated as angel mean simply, “a messenger.”As angel stories can be found not only within Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, it should also be noted that ancient cultures (other than Sumeria) had stories of angels. Babylon, Persia, Egypt, Greece as well as Eastern religions (such as Buddhism and Hinduism) also tell the tales of benevolant spirit beings interacting with mankind, though they may have been known by different names.Our collection of angel stories are interesting to read, as they often describe visitors that are human in appearance, typically bringing a message or assistance of some kind to people. Though we have categorized them in an attempt to make it easier to identify similar experiences, angel stories always seem to bring a life-changing experience to the one who experiences such dramatic an event. Perhaps the most interesting of angel stories are those that tell of mysterious visitors who often come in a time of need, provide help and then leave as quick as they surfaced, all without any indication that they are spirit visitors! Their form, and speech seem as solid and earthly as one would expect seeing from another human, but how can we explain the way these angels seem to show up out of nowhere and during times of dire strait? Truly a supernatural visitation by those who must be watching, and somehow overseeing what occurs in our lives.

this story isnt very long or proven but back wen i was 12 years old i went on a trip with my church to the ocoee whitewater rafting place. our leader said that they have never had a boat flip or 4 years so i wuznt scared at all. with this confidence me and my friends went sailing down the river like pros! suddenly next thing we all kno is we are trapped under the boat and the boat was pinned in by a ring of tall big rocks; how our boat got in there we dont know but all of us remembered that after about five minutes of not breathing because the waves/current kept us all under the water all we remember is everything turning dark and black then suddenly everything turned really bright everything was all white then next thing we kno we all are out and swimming in the middle of the river and the leader guide person had broken her knee trying to get us all to safety but all the other boats picked each of us up and in their boat, later all reunited for the last 3 miles of the journey but anyways after the boats flipping it took 3 or 4 adults to flip the boat over. all of us escaped with minor cuts and bruises and we were all ery sore the next day but all of us said all we heard was screaming, what i remember rom being under the boat was me praying and praying to my guardian angel. i remember this all like it was yesterday. We all thought we died the day from drowning. One of my really good friends helment was all broken but had no head injuries. go figure.

19 years ago when my son was 11 years old, he, my husband Phil and I were returning to N.J. from Pa. A year before, we had purchased land not far from my hometown and on that weekend all three of us worked to clear the brush away from the site of our future home. Driving home after a weekend of hard work, we ll were pretty tired. After seeing my son asleep in the back seat of our van, I also fell asleep while my husband Phil drove. As I was sleeping, a soft female commanding voice spoke three words. Look at Phil!. I immediately opened my eyes and looked over at him, he was asleep at the wheel. I said sharply, Phil wake up! He did and took control over the steering wheel, we were inches away from going off the road down a steep embankment. I believe the voice was either our Blessed Mother or my Guardian Angel.
